Amir Jamal saves nerves and makes Zalmi win in a last-ball thriller

Peshawar Zalmi 147-6 (Babar Azam 51, Ramen Powell 30, Minhas 1-11) defeated  Karachi Kings 145-5 (Tim Seifert 41, Amir Jamal 1-38) by 2 runs.

Peshawar Zalmi on Top

Peshawar Zalmi table topper of HBL PSL 9 defeated karachi kings by only a margin of 2 runs in a nail-biter in National Stadium Karachi on Monday. On the last ball karachi kings needed only 4 runs of 1 ball but Amir Jamal put a yorker to concede only 1 run.

Zalmi, now table topper, will have their first qualifier in the playoffs on Thursday. Their rivalry will be decided after the last round-robin match of Quetta Gladiators vs Multan Sultans. In which Quetta makes a brilliant comeback after a poor start to the league. On the other hand, sultans are also hungry to make a winning comeback and back on the table topper. 

United Chance of Qualification

On the other hand, Two champions Islamabad United will take the losing team on Tuesday in Eliminator 1 on Friday. Karachi Kings who are already eliminated from HBL PSL 9 secured only 4 wins with 8 points and finished fifth on the points table. While Lahore Qalandars had a disastrous season with only 1 win and eight losses to their name. 

Babar Azam Prime Form

Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam, who is currently in his prime form in PSL 9 having 5 half-centuries and 1 big century this season scored a tricky 51 and ramen powel storming 30 of just 18 balls to anchor the total score up to 147-6. Unfortunately, both were playing so well and were run out.

Karachi Kings came closer to 145-5 while fans kept their hopes from big-hitter Kieron Pollard but he pulled up the slower delivery in the air and put karachi under more pressure. Tim Siefert made 41 while James Vince’s 21 gave the Kings a warm start of 61 with 12 boundaries in total. No six was hit by karachi kings in the entire match.  

Naveen ul Haq Spell

Afghanistan bowler Naveen ul Haq was brilliant the other night took the important wicket of Shoaib Malik and finished his spell 2-22 while emerging talent Saim Ayub took the wicket of the skipper of King’s Shan Masood in the middle. Irfan Khan hit a brilliant 39 and almost did it for the Kings, but couldn’t finish by Niazi in the last ball.

Arafat Minhas who was the most economical bowler picked 1-11 and bowled the spell brilliantly for Peshawar Zalmi. Karachi Kings made a good comeback in the final over courtesy of Pakistan Star all-rounder Anwar Ali who hit two consecutive boundaries of the 2 balls and then made a single to give a strike to Niazi.

Amir Jamal who was already bowling brilliantly dipped Yorker right into his toes and kings able to manage only 1 run because the ball was in the hands of Peshawar Zalmi wicketkeeper Muhammad Haris who early dropped a simple catch as well as bad luck while stumping.
